For the 3rd pressure cooker we were divided in groups. We had to write down props for each other and in the end the class could decide who got which prop. I ended up having to create work that involves racism, but it could NOT involve humans. So I tried to create a work of images based on racist objects.
During the actual presentation I also included animals but I decided to take it out as it made absolutely no sense. I did notice that it was harder to create work based on racism without humans as I’ve always based my work around human interactions. But I did find out that there is a museum based on racism for example. So I decided to browse their website and I noticed a lot of objects based on the mockery of black people. You can think of subjects as black face or fishing hooks.
